Vegas to Reno Race 2023 – What You Need to Know

The Vegas to Reno Race is just a few months away, so it’s time to start discovering everything you need to know about racing or spectating at this epic event. At over 500 miles long, it’s the longest off-road race in the United States. (BTW, the Dakar Rally, a 10-15 day race, in Saudi Arabia is the longest off-road race in the world).

Starting north of Beatty, Nevada, Vegas to Reno is a grueling one-day race that attracts attention from drivers and race enthusiasts around the world. Let’s take a look at everything you need to know about taking part in the Vegas to Reno Race 2023.

History of the Race

The Vegas to Reno race first started back in 1995 and welcomes cars, trucks, UTVs, and motorcycles to compete each year. Recently celebrating its 25th anniversary, the race was a dream come true for the founder of Best In The Desert, Casey Folks. He was an off-road racing enthusiast who strived to create an event that would challenge competitors from around the world. This race was originally going to be a motorcycle racing series, but they wanted to open it up to truck, UTV, and car drivers also.

The first Vegas to Reno event took place near Sloan, Nevada, and stretched all the way to Aspen Creek Ranch. It was far more successful than anyone ever imagined, which is why over two decades later, the 500-mile race is still taking place annually. Drivers experience forest roads, dry lake beds, and graded roads on this challenging course that thrills drivers and spectators alike.
